Welcome Students and Parents

The purpose of this blog is to keep my students and DECA members informed on what's going on in and out of the classroom. The frequency of my blogs will depend on both events that will take place and the amount of free time that I will have. I'm also intending on posting details on job opportunities that prospective employers are seeking to fill. Given the sluggish economy this type of entry made be short and infrequent.

Good luck to all of my students (and parents) that may find this blog useful in staying more informed both at home and when out of town.

Dew Tour Partnership

The Dew Tour, which features X-game athletes that participate in activities such as motocross, skating and BMX racing and free style, have partnered up with Utah DECA in attempt to increase brand awareness to teenagers. This is the first time that the Tour has formed a relationship with schools in the U.S. and have chosen Utah as their state of choice to work with.

The Tour chose 5 schools in Utah to work with based on applications that were filled out. Cyprus High School was one of the 5 schools that the Tour deemed as their “Pro Schools” to work with. These schools received tons of promotional items to give away to students as part of their grass roots marketing campaign.

Cyprus DECA decided to give out these promotional items at home football, soccer, volleyball and tennis matches. Students that show up to these events are rewarded with items such as Dew Tour stickers, dog tags, bandanas, shirts and tickets to the Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge. Items are also given out by DECA students during lunch and after school for students that can answer Dew Tour trivia correctly. In addition to receiving free items from the Dew Tour students also can get tickets to the Toyota Challenge by typing in the promotional code UTAHDECA at the ticketmaster.com website.

This opportunity has greatly benefited many people, including:
1. Cyprus students – free promotional gear, discounted event tickets
2. DECA students – getting practical marketing experience working with a well known business
3. Cyprus sports – Increased fan support by a wider demographic of students that are interested in the Dew Tour items
4. Dew Tour – receiving marketing and brand exposure to a demographic (teenagers) that is one of their largest supporters

The Dew Tour will take place September 17-20. If you would like to help out and network with some of the marketing people at the Dew Tour as well as get some tickets to the event then we are still accepting volunteers to help out. Thanks to everybody involved.
